Chinese Han Dynasty Pottery Green Glaze Granary 100 AD (K521)
A fine and relatively rare ancient Chinese green glazed pottery model of a granary, dating to the Han dynasty, circa 2,000 years ago. This pottery green glazed granary , cyclindrical shape, overhanging roof, decorated with bands of incised lines on the body, and supported by three legs in the shape of bears. It is used for storing grain during Han dynasty. This vessel still has a lot of original pigment still remaining as well. Lead glaze with copper is the main colorant used in Han period to produce green glaze. Greenware became popular during the Eastern Han period.
