CHINESE YUAN DYNASTY CIZHOU PORCELAIN BOWL 13C (L127)
Rare Cizhou type, large black glazed bowl with three brown splashes- circa Yuan Dynasty A.D. 1279 - 1368. Probably from Henan, this large bowl has a deep black glaze with striking brown splashes wider at the rim and thinning as they converge towards the center. The porous paste is seen where the glaze ends on the outside, although coverage of this surface is quite good. The foot shows the knife-cut trait of this period, slightly slanted downwards. For a similar example, see "Song Ceramics from the Kwan Collection" fig. 157, p. 350 . This fine and genuine piece will make a welcome addition to any collection.
